Read:  Weed toolkit: Broadleaf and Grassy Weeds

Become familiar with the 2 ways weed ID is organized: Emergence order and Plant families

Read some general information about weeds, and weed ID in your Weeds of the NC States book: Introduction (pp. 5-8), Keys and technical terms (pp. 244-246), Glossary (pp. 291-294)

Know this first set of weeds:

• poison ivy

• common cocklebur

• dandelion

• common sunflower

• Canada thistle

• bull thistle
