Russia spans the northern part of the globe across Asia and Europe. Foxtail populations can be found across this vast area.
Below is a cluster of foxtail plants with panicles that I observed on the Trans-Siberian railroad tracks in eastern Siberia, somewhere west of Khabarovsk. On the right side of the picture note also the pigweed plants in flower. Apparently neither of these vigorous weeds minds the refuse littering their cozy track-side habitat.
The yellow foxtail plants with their compact panicles have quite a view of the harbor as they sit perched on the heights above Vladivostock on the Sea of Japan. This Russian city is the eastern terminus of the Trans-Siberian railroad.
