The department of Agronomy in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at ISU offers M.S. and Ph.D. programs in agricultural meteorology, agronomy (M.S. only), crop production and physiology, soil science, and plant breeding.

Plant breeding faculty, staff and graduate students are involved in research that builds the body of scientific knowledge, ranging from very basic molecular-level projects to applied, field-oriented projects. Expertise of faculty ranges from plant molecular genetics and genomics, quantitative genetics, prediction and optimization of breeding pipelines and decision making, plant breeding for quality, abiotic and biotic resistance, phenomics, and cultivar development.
