Hometown/State:

How did you become interested in Ag?

I grew up on a farm but I became interested in agronomy through my FFA advisor, Ed Ricks.

Your prior work experience:

Two summers as a crop scout for Heartland Co-op.  Two summers working production and research for Monsanto in Boone and Williamsburg. During college I have been an undergraduate research assistant for PHD and Masters students.  I was also an Agronomy Freshmen Peer Mentor.  Finally I have just completed a summer doing research for the Seed Development group at Pioneer in Johnston.

Hobbies/Interest:

I love to cook and bake.  I also enjoy some sewing.  Spending time with my baby brother is also high on my list.

What do you think are some of the challenges in the future of agriculture?

I think our biggest challenge will be keeping hold of the mid size farmer.  If you want to be small go organic.  If you want to be conventional plan on getting larger.  There is no middle man.
