Dr. Gina McAndrews

Present title position: Lecturer in Agronomy

Role in Agron 114: Instructor of the off-campus Distance Agron.114 Course

Hometown/State:Peosta, Iowa

How did you become interested in Ag? Born and raised on a farm, and have always had interest.

What do you think are some of the challenges in the future of agriculture? Through vertical integration, a couple of large corporations have gained enough power to influence the decisions and actions of farmers, consumers and government officials for corporate advantage. Corporate control of agriculture and food systems. Public awareness and knowledge of agricultural issues. The loss of independent farmers. The loss of productive land due to erosion, salinity, dessertification and urban sprawl.

Why did you choose to be a part of the Agron 114 instructional staff? I enjoy teaching and 114 is a great class.
