Assignments: will be done as individuals and assigned during class.

Evaluation of the written assignments will be based upon:

focus on the specific objectives of the assignment
demonstrate ability to use nutrient balance models
logic interpretation of the results
clarity, organizational strength, and grammar

Discussion: Students will be expected to participate on a regular basis during discussion, offering thoughtful, substantive information/opinion/ideas. Non-professionalism during discussion will not be tolerated.

Team project and presentation: 10% written, 10% oral team presentation, 10% individual

The team project will require a team of 3-4 students to

develop an nutrient flow analysis for a real farm, using the information and models covered in class.

As an individual

determine the environmental impacts of the farm
suggest changes to the system that would reduce the loss of nutrients and/or reduce the negative/enhance the environmental impacts.
