I was born in Quito, Ecuador, but I lived in Montevideo, Uruguay until I was 12 years old. I obtained my B.S degree at Universidad San Francisco de Quito and soon after graduation I obtained a position in the Plant Biotechnology Lab at the same university as research assistant and lab manager. After 3 years of working there I decided to obtain a graduate degree and I choose ISU to for a Ph.D. Currently I am working with switchgrass and other perennial grasses and I am mainly interested in hybrid mechanisms for breeding in these grasses.
