Professor Barnhart's primary responsibility is to provide technical and education support for Extension forage production and management information and education programs for ISU Extension staff, agribusiness clients, and governmental agencies; and other forage management outreach educational needs throughout Iowa. He is expected to contribute to the research function of the Department. His applied research in forage management and utilization is conducted primarily in support of various Extension educational efforts related to forage use and management. Professor Barnhart is expected to contribute to the teaching and advising efforts of the Department as needed. He is responsible for the course, Agronomy 334, Forage crop Management (3 cr hrs.), a course taught Spring and Autumn Semesters. As a Faculty member, he has a responsibility to serve on Departmental and University committees, participate in clientele board and agency committees and meetings, interact and provide information for media contacts, advise graduate student research programs, provide scholarly service to professional societies and provide professional expertise to agriculture-related organizations
