Our goal is to improve production and environmental performance of various cropping systems. We are investigating practices that can increase the efficiency of the overall system by means of increasing crop yields and simultaneously decreasing inputs or losses such as water and nitrogen. Understanding complex Genotype x Management x Environment interactions as well as modeling various components of the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum is central in our lab. Our approach combines both field experiments at various scales and the use of process-based mechanistic simulations models.
