There is a lot going on at the farm right now--too much to put up on this website.  But the real question is "WHAT CAN YOU DO?"  All of our activities, meetings, projects, volunteer workdays, and goals need your help!  If you are interested in gardening, farming, or product marketing please come and contribute!  See our meeting and event schedule to find out how you can get involved!

Our Objectives

- To create a functioning farm that meets both educational and production goals.
- To practice and experiment with organic production methods.
- To increase community awareness of and support of local food systems.
- To encourage multidisciplinary cooperation in sustainable food systems.

Since the organization's conception in fall of 1996, students have managed all aspects of the 6-acre farm: making the plans, writing the grants, managing the money, scavenging for supplies, building the structures, growing the crops, and selling our products.  Members can involve themselves as much as they like: simply helping with planting, selling at market, managing a particular crop, or constructing and maintenencing farm builidings and equipment.  The opportunities are not limited to students.  We host a variety of educational events, field days, and workshops that are attended by many in the community.   Through hard work and dedication, the members of the ISU Student Organic Farm have created a thriving farm and a unique educational opportunity for students and community members.
