1992 Foxtail Seed Collection.
I first collected salt-tolerant foxtails in 1992 on a collection trip to Southern Japan.  Here is a population of Setaria viridis, var. pachystachys nestled cozily up to the Sea of Japan in a small fishing village south of Hagi City, Japan, on the southern (western) end of Honshu Island.

Another population of Setaria viridis, var. pachystachys nearer to Hagi City growing quite well out of an outcropping of black, basaltic rock.
