Macy Heetland graduated in December of 2015, and has kept herself busy working for Syngenta in Murray, Kentucky. She is a support specialist where she assists Syngenta Personal and AgriEdge Specialists and their growers in Land.db. She also trains new AgriEdge and Certified AgriEdge Partners on the functionalities of the Land.db Software. Macy leads the Sustainability Project, and is the Back-up Lead on E-Luminate. Macy likes working with growers from all over the United States and training them on the Land.db software.
The Department of Agronomy prepared her for this role by giving her a broader understanding of overall farm management practices growers use, converting fertilizer blends, and a better understanding of soils across different geographical areas. Macy’s favorite memories at Iowa State are the lifelong friendships she gained within the department, as well as attending basketball and football games, and of course being involved with difference clubs, such as Agronomy Club, as well as being a CALS Ambassador, and being on the soil judging team. Some of her favorite classes were Agronomy 114 with Dr. Mullen, and Environmental Soils with Dr. Burras.
Macy’s advice for current students: Get involved and enjoy your time at Iowa State because it truly goes way to fast!
