Opportunities

Research Focus
Our research primarily focuses on digital soil mapping, with an emphasis on tackling challenges in spatial prediction and soil geomorphology. The direction of our work often evolves based on the interests and expertise of our lab team members, as well as the availability of grant funding. We invite you to explore our recent research products, which highlight our latest projects and the innovative methods utilized by our team to address pressing questions in soil science and beyond.
Prospective Graduate Students
1. Our soil science research group is always looking for exceptional graduate students with research interests that align with our focus. We specialize in digital soil mapping, soil geomorphology, and innovative approaches to understanding soil-landscape relationships. Admission requires funding, and funded graduate research assistantships will be advertised on this page.
2. Useful skills for success in our lab include a combination of basic statistics, programming for soil science (e.g., Python, R), geographic information systems (GIS), and expertise in soil geomorphology. As fieldwork is a key component of many of our projects, a valid driver’s license is often essential.
3. Graduate students in our research group can choose from programs in Soil Science, Environmental Science, or Sustainable Agriculture. Students benefit from a strong community within the GLSI research group, department, and broader campus. The Agronomy Department provides a unique research environment, encompassing diverse fields like soil science, meteorology, and plant sciences. This diversity creates opportunities for students to collaborate with colleagues across disciplines. For questions or more information, please contact Bradley.
Prospective Post-doctorates and Visiting Scientists
Positions for postdoctoral researchers and visiting scientists will be advertised when funding becomes available. If you are interested in developing a proposal or already have funding and wish to collaborate with our soil science research group, please contact Bradley.
