Senior Spotlight: Nicholas Schuh

December 11, 2018

Our next graduating senior is Nicholas Schuh in both Agronomy and Seed Science. In the spring semester, Nicholas will be attending Kansas State University in the plant breeding graduate student program. When Nick leaves, he will miss the agriculture community.

“I have learned as much from the people in agronomy as I have in the agronomy courses and that has made me a very well rounded and current agronomist.”

Over his past few years at Iowa State, his favorite memory was from this past fall. Nicholas went to Australia where he competed in a three day international crops contest. Everyone on the trip toured different farms and learned how to overcome agricultural related problems. His ISU experience has been great and Iowa State will always be special to him. He is most excited to start using everything he has learned at Iowa State and applying it to his grad school research.

Nicholas’ advice to incoming students:

“Get involved and make friends. I joined agronomy club and the crops team my freshman year and that resulted in trips to Kansas, Nebraska, Florida, South Dakota, Illinois, Missouri, Maryland, Oklahoma, and one in Australia. These trips have taught me a lot about agriculture and given me great connections in the agriculture industry. I also have lifelong friends from the clubs and organizations I have been involved with.”
