Valeria Recognized at Women's Basketball Game

February 20, 2019

Last weekend #ISUCALS alums and friends gathered to celebrate the college's role in #GrowingLeaders prior to the Iowa State Women's Basketball game. Congrats to our featured leaders: Elizabeth Burns-Thompson ('11 ag business), Emerging Iowa Leader; Valeria Cano Camacho (senior, global resource systems, agronomy) and Hans Riensche (junior, ag business). Many thanks to the more than 140 alumni, students and friends who joined us for the celebration! #CALSproud

Our very own Valeria was recognized at the event, and had her picture shown up on the scoreboard! She is being honored for many outstanding reasons. She has served on the dean’s student advisory committee, the college’s strategic planning committee, and as president of the Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences chapter at Iowa State. Valeria is active in the Leaders Enhancing Agriculture, Diversity, Inclusion and Trust Collective – or LEAD IT – working to improve cultural competency among our students, faculty, and staff.
