About
Dr. Bradley Miller leads the Geospatial Laboratory for Soil Informatics, which focuses on digital soil mapping and soil geomorphology. In a broader sense, Dr. Miller’s research seeks to advance the quantitative evaluation of spatial variations in environmental processes that affect the distribution of soil properties, with special consideration for how those variations impact environmental quality and sustainable crop production. This work integrates geographic information science and soil science to develop, improve, and curate high-quality soil geodatabases. Quantitative spatial analysis of landscape structure (patterns) improves understanding of our natural environment. This research produces more accurate soil maps with finer resolution using digital terrain analysis and other non-invasive data collection techniques. In turn, these maps improve land management decisions as well as crop and environmental modeling applications.
